Welcome to our website
Maryknoll Brothers are men who commit themselves
to lifelong celibacy, prayer, community living, and ministry.
Bringing a wide range of talents to the missionary endeavor,
they build missions and schools, work as teachers and
administrators, develop agricultural and other life-sustaining
projects with indigenous people, serve in health-related fields
and contribute in numerous ways to the ministry of Maryknoll.
In the early days of the Church, the Apostles realized that
they could not preach Jesus’ Word without the help of others who
ministered in various ways in early Christian communities (Acts
6: 1-6). Although they do not perform sacramental Church
ministries, Maryknoll Brothers witness to the Gospel through
lives of service and prayer, proclaiming the Word throughout the
world.
Brother Tim Raible
My name is Bro. Tim Raible
and I am a Maryknoll Brother, one of the newest members of the
Maryknoll Vocation Team.
I'll
be joining Frs. Dennis Moorman and David La Buda, Bro. Joe Bruener
and Deacon Steven DeMartino. Currently, I am living in and working
from the San Francisco Bay area.
Coming into this new
assignment with the vocation team is sort of like coming home after
31 years, having lived in different parts of the Maryknoll world. I
come from the bay area, having been born in the East Bay city of
Oakland and did most of my growing up in the North Bay town of
Vallejo.
Joining Maryknoll as a Brother candidate in 1977 was probably the
most exciting thing I ever did in my life! It has certainly given me
the opportunity to see and experience things and places and meet
people I never thought possible.
Maryknoll has given me the opportunity to live and work in the South
Bronx as a parish worker at St. Eugene's Chapel near Yankee Stadium;
on the southern island of Mindanao in the Philippines as a parish
catechist coordinator and school counselor, in the Kenyan cities of
Mombasa and Nairobi as a youth and young adult minister and in AIDS
ministry and, most recently, as the Mission Education and Promotion
Coordinator for the Maryknoll House in Seattle, WA. It's quite a
varied background of experiences, but one thing I've learned through
it all - always be open to hearing the needs of the people and
together you will find a way to help the people to meet those needs.
